Lanikai Storm Drains
In the residential area of Lanikai there are approximately 17 storm drain that take surface water runoff and its associated pollutants from the resdential areas in the Lankai subwatershed. It is then transported through concrete channels to empty directly into Kailua Bay and Lanikai Beach through three large outlets.

The increase in percentage of impervious cover in the residential neighborhood has undoubtedly contributed to the increase in polluted runoff.
